So you can see that we are quite close to the beach ... an easy walk from our new place. This area will no doubt be a popular spot in the summer but right now we sort of feel we have the place to ourselves. I'm also very appreciative that it seems to be better looked after as there is not near the amount of garbage that there was by our old apartment.
Janice, how great to see your new neighbourhood, lovely beach and so near to your door. Love the look of the home, especially the traditional tile and marble. A lovely means to feel closer to this new community and its culture. Are you likely to be back here for Easter time? We'll promise to do some special hikes just for you! Best to you and Roy, LizB.
ReplyDeleteHi Liz, Thanks for your comments! Yes, we are definitely feeling more "Tunisian" in our new home. This is the family home of the owner, he is the son of the original owner and grew up here. The house is probably about 80 years old and it sports one of the nicest (and tallest) tree in the area ... a very healthy Norfolk pine. So between hearing the waves, the birds and the wind through the trees ... we almost feel like we are back on Sidney Island!
DeleteWe are getting pretty close to finalizing our flights back home. Our dates are chosen and we are just waiting on the travel agent to confirm availability. I'll let you know in a separate email exactly when that is once I receive confirmation. I'm looking forward to some spring hiking and catching up with everyone!
Cheers, Janice
Hi Janice, went to your blog this morning and loved hearing about your new home - beautiful! I was busy with art workshops in February and have started to think about gardening - wet, cool weather has slowed this down for now. Hope to see you in April! Cathryn
ReplyDeleteHi Cathryn, Thanks for your comments and nice to hear from you. I bet you are becoming quite the artist now with all those practise sessions! What a terrific way to spend some free time during the winter months and can hardly wait to see the results! Cheers, Janice
ReplyDeleteJanice, these pictures look wonderful. I can see that no matter where Roy is (and you) that you prefer the coast. The ocean is drawing you each time. Maybe Roy is sitting there thinking of the place on Sidney Island, too. We are looking forward to seeing you when you arrive back. I did go ahead and confirm with Sue Lamothe to plan the next hike, but we can adjust when you do come. Looking at those pics of your home just reinforces what the difference in culture is. The beach scene looks very typical, yet the interior adds a lot of mystique to the differences you are experiencing. How are the markets now, food that is? Talk to you soon, Denise
ReplyDeleteHi Denise,
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right about being drawn to the ocean! Perhaps it was all those years growing up on the prairies and now we must 'must make up for lost time'. The background views of the homes does very much represent the architecture of the area. I only wish they would allow for more park space and trees ... but perhaps now with all the recent changes here, there will also be some new ideas in their urban planning. Looks like I will be able to take in a couple of hikes towards the end of April, so will see you soon. Janice
